My first Croisserie experience was when my friend Wendy sent a bag of assorted pastries to my office – it had all my favourite things to eat inside: croissant, kouign amann, curry donut, canelé and pain au chocolate. Jien and I paid the Damansara Heights outlet a visit the following week when we had an appointment nearby.

If there’s one thing to note about Croisserie, it’s their consistency. We’ve tried the same items five times (both in-store and takeaway) and there were slight variations in terms of quality. On some days, the Kouign Amann (RM6) is amazing but there were two occasions when this wasn’t quite on-point.

Croisserie’s canelé (RM6) is pretty good on all counts and I’ve really enjoyed this thus far. One of my favourite things to eat is the curry donut (RM5) – a deep fried fluffy donut ball filled with spicy-savoury chicken potato curry. Jien and I can’t get enough of this.

Croissants are also decent; I particularly like the pain au chocolat and banana chocolate flavour. Both run out pretty quickly so it’s best you get there early or pre-book yours online. That said, I had an unpleasant experience with the latter as despite ordering and paying in advance, they did not prepare my pastries at the set time, so I still had to queue and wait.

Fortunately, the items I pre-ordered were still available but it was frustrating having to wait when the whole purpose of pre-order with payment is to expedite and cut queues.

Flat white — weak coffee flavour, to be honest.
Coffee isn’t great, which is odd as they are part Coffee Club. I was expecting the coffee to be above average but on both counts, my flat white was mediocre. If you’re into danishes, the blueberry danish is not bad. Reasonable too, at RM6.

Overall, I find the pastries at Croisserie pretty decent (if they have a good day) though consistency isn’t quite there. Pricing is also fairly reasonable so whenever the craving for pastries hit, I tend to go there. But I wouldn’t recommend ordering in advance since they cant get their sh*t together…

These are a few of the pastries I tend to order on repeat at Croisserie
